Kansas becomes Oz somewhere between the first rehearsal and opening night. This production is our way of building that passage right here in Fayetteville, with the artists, students, businesses, and neighbors who already call this region home.
The Wiz is a landmark of Black American musical theatre. In a community where opportunities to experience and participate in Black theatre are limited, bringing this story to Fayetteville creates space for our artists and audiences to see themselves onstage.
We want this production to be accessible beyond a traditional night at the theatre, creating opportunities for students, families, and community members to experience the production and engage with the creative process.
Performers, designers, musicians, and theatre-makers from Fayetteville and across the region will have the opportunity to create together and be compensated for their work.
Schools, small businesses, community organizations, and civic partners will help us transform this production into a shared cultural experience built right here at home.
